What is the impact of Missouri Football commit Jayvan Boggs flipping to UCF?
By Zach Sweet
Just over a month ago, Jayvan Boggs announced his commitment to the University of Missouri. However, on Tuesday evening, the talented receiver flipped his commitment to the University of Central Florida (UCF). While this is a significant blow to Missouri's 2025 recruiting class, it shouldn't completely dampen the spirits of Mizzou fans.
Boggs is a four-star wide receiver from Cocoa, Florida, with a history of flipping schools. He decommitted from Ohio State in March before committing to Mizzou. Last month, his "final" decision came down to UCF, USC, and Georgia before ultimately choosing Missouri.
Despite the loss, Missouri will still be in good hands at receiver next season. They are likely to lose Luther Burden, Theo Wease, and Mookie Cooper, but the talent at this position isn't disappearing. Some of the names returning next year include Marquis Johnson, Mekhi Miller, Joshua Manning, Courtney Crutchfield, and James Madison II.
In addition to all the returning talent, Missouri will also be adding wide receiver depth in the 2025 class. Although Boggs was a significant loss, he wasn't the top receiver committed to Mizzou in his recruiting class. Four-star receiver Donovan Olugbode, who has a higher recruiting rating than Boggs, will be coming to Columbia next season.
Missouri's 2025 recruiting class still ranks No. 16 nationally and is filled with talent. You can expect Matt Zollers to get back on the recruiting grind, aiming to bolster his arsenal even further for next season when he takes over. The Tigers will continue to strengthen their future, and despite the significant loss, there is no real cause for concern in Columbia.
You can expect more recruiting news for the 2025 circuit in the coming weeks. Missouri aims to land five-star lineman Michael Fasusi when he commits on August 20th. Stay tuned for updates as the Tigers look to build on an already impressive recruiting class.
